Video Transcript for Truck Trolley Truck Bed Slide Out Tray Review

Hi, everyone. Aiden with etrailer. And today we're gonna be taking a look at the truck trolley sliding truck bed tray. This is gonna be a way to get the contents of your bed slid out to you where all of it's gonna be a lot easier to reach perfect for something like a camper shell. And when you're all done, have the ability to roll it back in, close your tailgate and be on your way. Now there's gonna be a much more temporary solution, not so much a permanent install, and there's gonna be some benefits to that and we'll talk about those in this video and why you might choose it.

Well, let's check it out. So why choose the truck trolley It's got a 300 pound capacity and gives you 12 to eighteens of extension from the end of your tailgate, and it's kind of a universal fit, that's why it's a range. So depending on your truck like your F-150 here or maybe a Silverado, you might just get a slightly different extension, but for the most part it's gonna be enough to reach your stuff. But with such a low weight capacity, why would you consider using something like this Permanent beds slide installs are super popular. We carry a number of them here at etrailer that can give you a 1000, 2000 pounds of weight capacity.

And those are great. A lot of people that use their truck for work as contractors use them for tool storage because you can take all of your tools out, you can support a lot of weight on the end, and it's gonna live in the truck full time. This can be removed whenever you're done with it though. And for just the average person maybe going camping to a sporting event for some tailgating, I think this could be really good. Maybe a family road trip.

I personally would use this for camping because when I go and take my truck out, we load it up with all of our camping gear, tent, chairs, cooking stuff, and all that gets shoved up to the front of the bed and it becomes really hard to reach. Having the ability to pull all that stuff out, especially some of the heavier items like coolers, that's gonna be a lot nicer to have accessible. And then when I'm done, I can just slide it back in and when I get home, the truck trolley can come out of the truck bed and I can resume using my truck as normal from there. Now on the bottom you've got 20 of these rollers, which help the trolley glide somewhat smoothly in and out. Most of the construction you see here is plastic, which doesn't give it the best feel, but I mean it gets the job done and it operates smoothly enough for me to be satisfied using it.

I don't think I'd get overly annoyed using this throughout the duration of a trip. And I know I mentioned this is a bit more of a universal fit. This one in particular that we have today is designed for use with short bed trucks. And short bed is kind of an all encompassing term for basically anything that's not an 8 foot bed. So your 6.5 or your 5.5, it's gonna be the one to go with. And they do make a version for those 8 foot beds. So if that's you and that's how you're using your truck, then be to pick up the right truck trolley. It's gonna come with longer straps to guide the tray out and be sized to fit that bed. But speaking of those straps, that's what makes the whole system work. You've got these tie downs going to your truck bed tie downs at both the front and rear of the bed. Tighten it up with a cam buckle and it feeds through a loop on the truck trolley there. So it'll glide along the straps as you push it in and out of the bed. And that strap is what prevents this from being pulled all the way out. Right now I can get a little bit of movement out of it, but that strap is taut and the truck trolley isn't going anywhere. It's a pretty simple system, certainly nothing groundbreaking, it's just two straps. But that's what allows for such easy removal when you're not using it. And the same goes for whenever I pushing this back in there reaches a point where the strap starts to bind up again right about here, and when I close my tailgate, it'll push against it. And that's what keeps the tray still when you're driving because it binds itself against your tailgate. Now when it's stored up like this, you've got carabiners on either side that just act as safety straps. So say you're parked at an uphill incline, this doesn't come rolling out at you when you open up your tailgate. Because this is a temporary non-permanent install it doesn't have a release latch like a typical bed slide might. So this acts as your stopper. When you're ready to slide it out, just make sure you go to both sides and remove it. And there are a number of those loops that the safety strap goes to at the end throughout the length of the carrier. So if you did want to tie down some of your cargo and keep it from shifting around as much, those are the points you could use to help secure it. You also have a small lip throughout each half of the tray, which can help hold me or cargo in place. It's not super tall, but it's there. And as a secondary measure, all of these indents and ridges here, are sized that you could put a 2x4 vertically in that slot spanning the length here. Now personally, I don't know how useful that would actually be. The tolerances here don't seem great, and it would only cover about half the 2x4. You'd have it sticking up and I think it'd end up being loose. What I would do if this we're in my own bed is I'd probably opt to get two pieces cut to the length I want and put some sort of brace piece on either side and basically build a square or a cubby that could drop down into the slots and create a small organized section where I could drop some of my smaller cargo or camping accessories. And I know I mentioned earlier you've got a 300 pound capacity for the tray, but when you extend this out and you've got this little section overhanging the tailgate, you shouldn't have more than a hundred pounds hanging off unsupported here. So coming up and sitting on this, not a good idea. And that 300 pounds should be dispersed pretty evenly throughout here. Again, you're not getting this for the weight capacity, it's for the convenience for your lighter weight stuff. Now, some dimensions you might wanna keep in mind for your tray are, one, the usable space. So I'm gonna go side to side on the furthest out points, and that's 15 inches wide. So you can see like our cooler here has a little bit of free space on either side, but it'd be cutting it a little bit close. And then from front to back, again that inside usable space is gonna be a little under 59-1/2 inches. So pretty good amount of length there. The other thing I'm gonna check out is your exterior space. So if you're a little worried about this fitting in your truck bed, you can still check that out and make sure it'll work. Side to side, you're looking at 50, sorry, 47-3/4 of an inch. And then front to back you're gonna be working with 62-1/2 inches. Now something you may have noticed by now, at least with our truck bed in particular today, it's a 6.5 foot bed. When I put this all the way in, it's got a little bit of free space at the very front. And with that dead space at the front, especially in the case of our camper shell today, it's pretty much gonna be unreachable because getting back to that is already hard enough with a camper shell. But now we've got this tray in the way that you really probably shouldn't be stepping on and stepping around is gonna be pretty difficult. So consider that to be unusable space. With a short 5.5 foot bed, you're not gonna have near as much there, so not as big a concern. And if you've got something like a tonneau cover, that might be even less of a concern 'cause then you could always reach over the side of your bed rails to grab those things. And maybe that's your heavier items or your less used items on trip. And that's really all there is to it. It's overall not a bad product, it's just for a very certain person. Like I said, not your work applications, not your contractors, but for someone just looking to get easier access to their cargo. Now, you may have noticed throughout this video that this tray's a little bit scuffed up and maybe a little dirty, and that's because in this truck this has been used for a number of months. One of our coworkers on our video team, Zach, this is his truck and the tray he's been using and he's certainly put this tray through its paces. And honestly, after talking to him and seeing it myself, I'm pretty impressed with how it's held up. Again, it's mostly plastic construction, but he wasn't using it for anything super intense. Family vacations with his luggage, presents for going out of town for Christmas, things like that. And when he was ready to use his bed for something a lot bigger, he was able to get it out of here really quickly because all you gotta do is undo those cam buckle straps and the whole thing will fold up and you can remove it, put it in your garage, or even just fold it up and set it to the side of your bed if you really needed to. So removal, installation, it's all pretty quick. You can check out our installation video on this exact F-150 if that's something you wanna see a little bit more in depth. But otherwise, that's gonna do it for our look at some of the features that the truck trolley sliding truck bed tray has to offer. Thanks for watching.

Safety straps come with quick links instead of carabiners. No one is going to use the safety strap if they have to unthread quick links.

Installed the Truck Trolley Truck Bed Slide Out Tray on a 2023 Ford F-150 with the 5-1/2 foot bed. Took about 30 minutes with reading instructions and making some adjustments to get it just right. Now that I have it set just where I want it I figure I can install it or take it out in about 10 minutes. Works as expected with no surprises.

This is going to suit our needs perfectly. Makes getting our golf clubs out of the truck much easier and keeps them in place while traveling. Easy to remove the trolley when not needed.

Good Morning: I installed this in about 30 Minutes. The Installation was easy.
I have an 8 foot bed in my Pickup, and it works great. I have a little extra room where the Trolley Bed is not 8' long. Loaded 190 Pounds of Corn for the livestock, and it took it, without a problem. Easy to roll it forward, and back with the weight on it. So far so good. In case you are looking for this product. I would recommend it.

  • How To Select The Correct Slide Out Bed Tray Length For a 2018 Ford F-150 Limited?
The Truck Trolley Truck Bed Slide Out Tray # TR87VR has an overall length of 62-1/2" so it will fit either both the 5-1/2', and 6-1/2' bed lengths. For an 8' bed you would want the Tray # TR99VR as it will include an Extension Kit # TR59VR. Personally I much prefer the BedSlide Sliding Truck Bed Tray w/ T-Tracks options as they build the trays to fit the bed sizes rather than having a universal kit like the Truck Trolley above. 5-1/2' Bed # BE63WR 6-1/2' Bed # BE35WR 8' Bed # BE82WR

  • Is There a Sliding Cargo Tray that Can Fit bed of 2011 Ram 2500
Hey Scott, if you really wanted to I am sure you could install the MORryde Cargo Sliding Tray part # MR64FR in the bed of a truck like your 2011 Ram 2500 but we have sliding trays designed for truck beds that you might be more interested in like the part # TR87VR for if your truck is a short bed or part # TR99VR if you have a long bed. The MORryde was designed for RVs cargo compartments.
